Tristan Hutchinson
Photographer and Filmmaker

Tristan is a fine art photographer and documentary filmmaker, born in Nottingham and now based in Ireland. His work moves between documentary and art; drawn to quiet, human stories and the spaces they inhabit.

Originally trained in Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University, where he specialised in video, his practice has grown through long-form observation and close collaboration. He often works with artists, not just to document what they create but to spend time within the rhythm of their process – finding the gestures, textures and small moments that reveal something deeper about the work.

Landscape is a constant thread. His films and photographs return to questions of place – how it shapes identity, memory, and the way people live and create. Since moving to Ireland this relationship has become more rooted, with the land itself often acting as both subject and collaborator.

Tristan applied his artistry to the Saint Patrick's Cathedral Souvenir Book and its companion product A Legacy of Light - The Stained Glass of the National Cathedral. Alongside his personal work, Tristan has collaborated with clients including Jameson, Vogue, The Guardian, The Observer News Review, Financial Times and Absolut. Whether commercial or self-initiated, his approach remains the same: patient, attentive, and led by a sensitivity to story.

He lives in the west of Ireland with his family, and a dog called Max.
