Following a Cambridge degree in Natural Sciences, Ruth embarked on a long and successful career as an editor and writer in illustrated non-fiction publishing, working for major companies including Mitchell Beazley. Her final full-time post was with the senior management team at Reader’s Digest books. Since retiring she has continued editorial work of all kinds and written 20 books, ranging from natural history and plant folklore to the weather and country houses. 

A keen artist and gardener, her most recent titles include Weeds on Trial and Kitchen Garden Secrets. She lives in Cardiff.
