Hopetown Darlington - Souvenir Guide
Hopetown Darlington is a brand-new £35 million museum which celebrates the pivotal contribution of the town and its people to global railway history. Memory Lane was engaged to prepare a suite of publications ahead of the museum’s official opening in 2024 – all this while the site was still being built and lead times were short.
Drawing on the input of local historians and industrial archaeologists, we created a dual-purpose souvenir guide to the whole site. Produced as a high-gloss concertina publication, the finished guide presents the history and importance of the Stockton & Darlington Railway in a striking mix of words and pictures. A visual delight and a fascinating read in its own right, the guide also acts as a keepsake reference to the whole Hopetown complex for visitors to use again and again.

The guide has dual-purpose – one side to guide the visitor during their exploration of the museum – while the reverse charts the history and importance of the Stockton and Darlington railway.

The souvenir guide is part of a suite of publications produced by Memory Lane exclusively for Hopetown Darlington.

Hopetown Visitor Experience Manager, Natalie with Andrew from Memory Lane.
“The Souvenir Guides are just fantastic and a HUGE asset to Memory Lane who have poured their passion and focus into this to get it spot on perfect! To see visitors opening it up quietly as they sit in our outdoor cafe area with a coffee, is heartwarming to say the least.”
